"Mee Goreng" are Malay words and stand for "Stir-fried Noodles". 'Mee' means Noodles and 'Goreng' means Stir-fried. We are a small family-run noodle bar, specialising in all kind of noodle dishes - based on Malaysian, Chinese and Thai Cuisines.
Our owner-chef (Simon) has over 25 years of experiences in cooking & food preparation. He has always dreamt of owning his own business. That dream was first achieved in 2002 when we started a small Chinese Take Away in Newcastle. The existing business was struggling, but within months we were able to re-build the business with our new tasty dishes, and gain more new customers. However as it was extremely difficult to run a business with two very young children in tow, we had to dampen that dream after just 2 years! It wasn't until 10 years later (September 2014), we finally had the courage to start all over again, with our once-upon-a-time-little-boys finally all grown up and able to give us a hand when needed (while they continue to undertake their university studies).
We enjoy doing what we do, and we love the fact that we are able to be at a personal level with our customers as much as we possibly can!
With our (Simon and Maggie's) background from Ipoh (a town in Perak, Malaysia) and Penampang (a town in Sabah, Malaysia) respectively, and our great passion for food, we have been able to offer a range of delicious authentic as well as some unique fusion Asian stir-fried and soup noodle dishes.
We are also proud to say that all our sauces and appetisers are homemade. It's hard work as we do our work ourselves, and oftentimes resulting in very late nights. But nothing is more rewarding than to know that our customers enjoy our food! We have also been able to continue to grow and improve through the customer feedback.
